Four dishes from the 2025 menu were selected as Food Network Favorites and featured nationwide starting May 29, 2025. Rigatoni Rosa with Parmesan Chicken was rebuilt with heartier rigatoni, a richer spicy tomato cream sauce, slow roasted tomatoes and 18 month aged Parmesan.

The Buffalo Chicken Ranch Mac & Cheese is the highest calorie item on the menu at 1,380 calories. It is built on elbow noodles in a cheddar and jack cheese sauce, topped with parmesan crusted chicken, Buffalo sauce, green onions, crispy onions and a ranch drizzle.

The Med Salad with Grilled Chicken at 440 calories is the lowest calorie full meal we found in published data.

Does Noodles & Company have gluten-free options?

Yes, but read this section carefully if you have celiac disease. Noodles & Company offers a gluten-sensitive pipette noodle that can replace the pasta in many dishes. Rice noodles are used in Pad Thai. Zucchini noodles, often called zoodles, have also been offered.

What the company says

The company states that it can prepare dishes with ingredients that do not contain gluten, but cannot guarantee any dish is completely gluten-free because of cross contact during cooking. It says its restaurant environments contain gluten and that it cannot remove all risk built into its cooking process. It recommends that anyone who is highly allergic or intolerant to gluten check with a physician before eating there.

Chili Garlic Ramen uses wheat ramen noodles and a broth that contains wheat, and shared noodle pots raise the risk further. Avoid it if you need to stay strictly gluten-free. Pasta Fresca can be ordered with the gluten-sensitive pipette noodle instead of rigatoni, and it helps to ask for a separate sauce ladle and a fresh plate.

What are the vegan and vegetarian options?

Several bowls are vegetarian as served, including Buttery Parmesan Noodles, Pasta Fresca and the tofu version of Pad Thai. Vegan eating takes more work here because cheese and butter appear in many sauces. You can swap proteins on most dishes, and tofu is the plant-based protein option.

Is Noodles & Company healthy?

It depends entirely on what you order. The gap between the lightest and heaviest meal here is large.

That is a difference of 940 calories between two meals at the same counter. Three ways to order lighter:

• Pick a salad with grilled chicken instead of a cream sauce bowl.
• Ask for zucchini noodles in place of pasta where available.
• Skip the Cheesy Garlic Bread. It adds 610 to 701 calories on its own.

What changed on the Noodles & Company menu?

The chain rebuilt a large part of its menu in 2025. Some long running dishes are gone. The company has said it is curating the menu based on what guests are craving, and confirmed that Leanguini and some zucchini dishes are no longer on the menu.

CEO Drew Madsen pointed to slower guest adoption of the upgrades made to some historic menu items as one reason for the chain’s sales problems. In plain terms, some customers did not like the replacements.

Ordering tips from regulars

• Ask for extra sauce on the side. Several reviewers say the bowls can run dry.
• Ask for hot chili packs if a dish is not spicy enough for you.

Is Noodles & Company closing locations?

Yes. The chain has been closing restaurants since 2025, and the programme has continued through 2026. We track the figures quarter by quarter in our guide to Noodles & Company restaurant closures. On August 13, 2025, Noodles & Company announced with its second quarter results that it would close 28 to 32 company owned locations by the end of that year. At that point the company had already closed six restaurants in 2025 and opened one, while two franchise locations also shut down. A further 12 to 17 closures were planned after that.

Why it is happening

Second quarter 2025 revenue fell 0.7 percent to $126.4 million from $127.4 million, and the net loss widened to $17.6 million from $13.6 million a year earlier. CEO Drew Madsen blamed a strong value conscious climate and slow guest adoption of menu upgrades, and announced he was stepping down. Joe Christina, then chief operating officer, took over as CEO.

What customers say about it

Price is the theme that comes up most. In a Reddit thread asking what happened to the chain, one reply summed it up as constant menu changes that made the food more expensive and lower quality. Another commenter wrote that it became less noodles and more company. A third explained that the point of fast casual used to be that it cost less than a sit down restaurant, and now the gap is small enough that speed is the only advantage left. The company responded in part with a 30th anniversary campaign in 2025 that brought back 1990s pricing for a short period, putting Buttered Noodles and other dishes at $4.95.
